Conference in Williamsport to Focus on Progress, Future of PA Wilds Effort, Governor Rendell Says
Governor Edward G. Rendell today announced that 250 regional business and civic leaders will join state officials Thursday in Williamsport for a two-day, Pennsylvania Wilds conference to review past successes and chart future efforts in the 12-county region of north central Pennsylvania. "Public interest and involvement in Pennsylvania Wilds initiatives are increasing, and so are the success stories coming out of that unique area blessed with so many natural resources," said Governor Rendell. "This first- ever conference will showcase what is working as we continue to bring more people to the Pennsylvania Wilds so they can enjoy lasting outdoor experiences and memories." The Governor said hotel occupancy rates in the region increased, new businesses have started and communities have seen revitalization because of focused initiatives.

By all accounts, the Frederick County Chamber's 2007 business Expo held Tuesday lived up to its billing as a networking opportunity that's second to none in Frederick. "It's all about networking," said Michael Kurtianyk, director of residential sales for Tyler Donegan Real Estate Services. "I'm here because I have a new job and I want to introduce myself to people. I'm very pleased with the turnout, despite the weather and traffic." "Nice, quality contacts. Everyone's pleased," is how Ric Adams, Frederick Chamber of Commerce president and CEO, described the event. Jason and Marilynn Lee agreed. It was the couple's first Expo but "it's definitely worth our time being here," said Lee, owner of Quality First Cleaning, a commercial and residential cleaning business in downtown Frederick.
